The youth program 'A least five' concludes with the first phase of training (12/08/2008)

A group of 50 young people between 16 and 24 years in the Region have participated in the first phase of the cultural dynamic 'A least five' launched by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Institute of Youth and which closed yesterday.

The regional meeting held at the High Performance Centre Infanta Cristina since last Friday and ended yesterday, was attended by 50 young people selected to be part of the first phase of this program.

Participants have attended meetings, lectures and activities to learn the characteristics of 'A least five' and create group environment among the participants.

During their stay they have also enjoyed water activities, sports, workshops, excursions to the beach and cultural routes nearby.

After passing through this regional meeting, participants will be responsible for implementing this project in the municipalities from which and to promote activities and actions for cultural revitalization of their environment.

The 'At least five' will become operational next September and will run for three years to coincide with the school years (September 2008 - June 2011).

The objectives of this initiative is to facilitate access to information and education in values of young people participating municipalities, promote their participation in community affairs and activities of different agencies and institutions in the Region of Murcia, foster the exchange understanding of experiences of other social, cultural and sporting activities and provide social skills to youth groups that can form facilitating their access to decision-making process in the organization of activities.

The 'At least five' is targeted at populations less than 5,000 inhabitants in the Region of Murcia and is aimed at energizing the youth population aged between 14 and 30.

In total, nine municipalities have joined the program: Campos del Río, Albudeite, Ulea, Villanueva del Río Segura, Eyes, Ricote, Pliego, Librilla and Aledo.

The Institute for Youth coordinates the program in its entirety and with the collaboration of various local technical resources.
