Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura puts out to tender the works of Canal D-7 to minimize the risk of flooding (03/12/2020)

| The works, which consist of the expansion of the hydraulic capacity of the Canal, have an approximate execution period of four months | This morning at Los Alcázares Town Hall, the Mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Cervera, accompanied by members of the Municipal Government Team, and Manolo Sevilla, Regional Deputy of the Socialist Group; at a press conference announced the tender by the Government of Spain to increase the hydraulic capacity of Canal D-7 in Campo de Cartagena, for an amount of € 1,066,631.38. Cervera has declared that this D7 channel is "the last protection that the municipality of Los Alcázares has against flooding", recalling that "both in the episode of torrential rains in December 2016, and in those of September 2019, it was he was overwhelmed, further aggravating the damage caused in the town of Alcazar.

" With this project, whose execution period is expected to end in four months, the Government of Spain becomes, together with the Los Alcázares City Council, the main administrations that have acted to solve the serious problem of flooding that affects the municipality, in the absence of the Regional Government executing the anti-flood projects that it has pending. Also, Cervera thanked Mario Urrea, President of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, for having fulfilled the commitment he made last November during his visit to Los Alcázares to carry out this tender as soon as possible. Anti-flood projects pending by the Regional Government Finally, Mayor Mario Cervera explained that there are two infrastructure projects in the face of torrential rains pending execution by the Regional Government. The first of them would consist of the construction of a rainwater network in the surroundings of the Municipal Sports Center, the Zero Zone of the Municipality, for a value of more than two million euros.

This project was delivered by the Los Alcázares City Council to the President of the Community, Fernando López Miras, in a meeting held between the two, and during which the President undertook to carry out this same year.

And, the second project would be the construction of a bypass to recover the Rambla de Torre Pacheco, for an amount of more than one million euros, subsidized by FEDER funds. For his part, Manolo Sevilla, Regional Deputy for the Socialist Party has pointed out that "this is a very important action against the floods but that, without a doubt, if the Regional Government of López Miras does not comply with the works of its competence, it will continue to be very difficult to fight against the floods and the residents of Los Alcázares will continue to suffer the impact of them in the municipality "
