| This request was requested during the meeting held yesterday by videoconference with the Director of the Murciano Institute of Social Action | The Mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Pérez Cervera, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Policy, María José Benzal, held a meeting yesterday morning by videoconference with the Director of the Murcian Institute of Social Action, Raquel Cancela Fernández. During said meeting, the Council has requested, among other matters, the expansion of the number of places in the arranged residences of the IMAS in the town.
In this sense, Councilor María José Benzal clarified that "due to the closure of the Day Centers in our municipality as a result of the health crisis, the most vulnerable people need this support in order to be cared for". Also, Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera, conveyed the need for funding from IMAS for the implementation of the System for Autonomy and Care for Dependency (SAAD), as well as the importance of providing the town with a new Day Center arranged between the two administrations since the current one is insufficient to meet the real demand of the municipality. The General Directorate has been informed in detail of the aid and subsidies in force for the most vulnerable groups. Both the Mayor and the Councilor have remarked on the good spirit of the Director of IMAS to solve the problems raised in said meeting, which has been described as very positive.
Mario Pérez Cervera added that "this meeting is very important to us since the most vulnerable people in our municipality need our support more than ever in order to have all their needs covered, as they are the group most affected during the current pandemic."
