Mario Cervera: "the situation of the Mar Menor is a reflection of the failure of the Policy" (15/10/2019)

The representative of the municipality said to value the meeting held in a very positive way since as it assures “the change of course to find solutions may be correctâ€

The Palace of San Estaban has received the mayors of the coastal town halls affected by the situation of the Mar Menor this morning to address in an emergency meeting the serious problem the lagoon, after the appearance of tons of dead fish on the beaches of the coast Murcia

The representatives of Los Alcázares, San Pedro, Torre Pacheco, San Javier and Cartagena have sat at a table chaired by the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia Fernando López Miras, and accompanied by the Minister of Environment Antonio Luengo Zapata .

The meeting consisted of communicating to the mayors the measures taken yesterday in the Government Council of the CARM to try to solve this environmental catastrophe, which not only affects the state of the Mar Menor, but can lead to numerous other economic losses related to the sector tourist.

Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera, in his career for the defense of his municipality after the floods that arose last September, has repeatedly claimed real solutions for his people, since he has been the most affected in the region.

Likewise, the mayor of Alcazar has requested in said meeting to launch immediate actions with measurable results in order to verify the evolution of the improvements in Mar Menor.

Cervera has said in this regard that "the situation of the Mar Menor is the reflection of the failure of the Policy until today as a tool that must defend the interests of citizens and guarantee a future for future generations."

In addition, he commented that “the situation of the Mar Menor has gone from the ICU to being in terminal phase as a result of years of abandonment and the lack of actions to guarantee the regeneration of the lagoon, since this was already known since the beginning of the 90s and everything was a matter of time. â€

Regarding this issue, the mayor has ended up ensuring that “in our hands is the change of a destination that is presaged difficult in coastal municipalities, and if the political class we face this great environmental disaster that needs managers to act urgently , because of not having them it will be demonstrated that the problem is not assumed with sufficient seriousness â€.

On the other hand, Mario Pérez Cervera has added that “this serious problem adds in my municipality to the precarious state of the same caused by recent floods, and therefore it is already a difficult challenge to get afloat from this situation, since if not they offer us practical solutions, this will happen again, because Los Alcázares, despite the strength it is demonstrating, cannot forget that it is built on a ravine and where very bad decisions have been made by all administrations. â€

The number one in the City Council ends by saying that "I refuse to let Los Alcazares continue to be the sink of the Region of Murcia and therefore I will collaborate in everything that is necessary to solve this great problem among all."

Therefore, the municipal representative has called a demonstration that will take place on Thursday 17 at 7:00 pm with departure in San Esteban.

In search of solutions

The mayor of Los Alcázares has already taken important steps in the right direction to offer his neighbors solutions that, as he himself has affirmed, "serve not to have to suffer another flood and therefore no life is in danger."

Mario Pérez Cervera has already met with important positions of the regional and national administration in order to minimize the consequences of other torrential rains
