The Community runs a reorganization plan in Los Alcazares to prevent spillage at Mar Menor (02/12/2014)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Los Alcazares, Anastasio Bastida, today introduced a set of actions of hydraulic works included in the plan 'Zero Discharge Mar Menor', consisting of the execution of two manifolds and tank storms.

As explained Cerdá, the purpose of these actions is to prevent "any spillage that occurs by rainwater running down the streets may affect the Mar Menor".

These works have an investment of 1.5 million euros, financed 80 percent by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union, and the remaining 20 percent by the regional government.

The owner of Agriculture and Water said the town of Los Alcazares "has a network of sanitation unit that collects most of the rainwater from the town and can not absorb the entire flow that can occur during torrential rains, which causes the pumping wells and water overflowing the Mar Menor is discharged ".

The storm tank has a budget of 1.2 million euros and a capacity of 3,500 cubic meters.

It will be located at Rambla and collect the flow surplus sewage, which will be driven to the treatment of the municipality for proper treatment and use in irrigation in the area.

The Ministry of Agriculture is also running collectors Liberty Avenue, with a length of 345 meters and a budget of 149,698 euros, and the place of 'Los Vallejos', 630 meters long and an investment of 159,566 euros which will serve a population of thousand.
