The Community puts to tender the management of the sports port of Los Alcázares to transform its facilities and services (09/03/2018)

The marina touched "the full house" in the occupation of its mooring points last summer

The Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, today announced the opening of the tender period for the concession of the sports port of Los Alcázares that "will involve a substantial transformation of the facilities and services offered to users and that will become one of the most modern port infrastructures in the Region ".

"The company awarded this concession will invest more than 600,000 euros in the renovation and improvement of port facilities, in the first ten months of the contract," said Pedro Rivera.

Rivera highlighted the profitability of the exploitation of this port, which last summer reached almost "the total crowds" in the occupation of its mooring points.

In August, occupancy stood at 98.21 percent, so 274 of the 282 mooring points were occupied.

The concession will be for a period of 20 years, although the port will continue to be owned by the Autonomous Community.

The deadline for submission of bids began yesterday and will end on April 24 and the forecast of the Ministry is to proceed with its award before the summer.

"The works that will be carried out are intended to improve the productivity, energy efficiency and environmental quality of the facilities," said the counselor.

The tenders must include the installation of a selective waste collection system, equipment for the fight against accidental marine pollution by oil spills, security and fire protection systems, and suction pump for dirty water.

Port improvements

The works will be undertaken both on the access pontoon, as well as on the docks and pier, which will benefit the 282 mooring points of the port.

The councilor stated that the "most visible" actions will be the replacement of mooring elements, the renovation and improvement of the entire pavement of the port and the construction of a new wooden railing.

A new efficient lighting will also be installed, the access door will be modernized and a new captaincy and control house will be built.

In the same way, he emphasized other improvements that "will optimize the substructures of the port" such as the renewal of the supply, sanitation and electricity networks;

the placement of mural-type light points in the wall for the supply of electricity, as well as the replacement of connection cabinets for boats.

"The concrete layer will be demolished across the width of the jetty and a new reinforced concrete slab will be installed, which will increase the safety and resistance of the port's infrastructure," said Pedro Rivera.
