The Civil Guard detains the person responsible for the massive and anomalous registration of foreign citizens (04/09/2017)

The arrested person is attributed the alleged authorship of the crimes of fraud and documentary falsification, with more than 12,000 euros of benefit

For almost a year, the registration of 60 people had been requested on the same farm owned by the detainee's mother

Once registered, foreigners could apply for applications for residence permits, social assistance, health care and other municipal and state benefits

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the operation 'SIMONETI', has developed an investigation aimed at clarifying alleged scams in the discharge of foreign citizens in the municipal registry of Los Alcázares, which has culminated in the detention of a person as presumed author of the crimes of fraud and documentary misrepresentation.

The value of the swindle would exceed 12,000 euros.

The investigation began when the Guardia Civil was informed of certain anomalies in numerous requests for discharge in the municipal registry of Los Alcázares.

The Guardia Civil learned that a number of applications for registration have been requested since the last quarter of 2016 on the same address, owned by a woman who died in early 2017.

This information made suspicion that it was an alleged fraud aimed at obtaining economic benefits, in exchange for facilitating the regularization in the municipal census of foreign citizens in an irregular situation.

The enumeration allowed the petitioners to access different types of assistance such as access to social assistance, health care and even obtaining residence permits.

Up to 60 people registered in the same dwelling

The investigators collected the necessary information and found that about 60 people, mostly of Indian nationality, appeared in the requests for registration and discharge in the municipal register, although they had not resided in the reference address.

The documentation obtained allowed the Civil Guard to determine that the person who filed the applications in the municipality, the son of the owner of the property, had falsified the signature of his mother, initialed in the corresponding document authorization for the application for registration.

The owner passed away at the beginning of the year, although her signature continued to appear in the documentation.

Once the necessary information has been obtained, the Benemérita has identified and detained the author of the events, a man of Spanish nationality, 58 years old and resident of Torre Pacheco, as alleged perpetrator of the crimes of fraud and documentary misrepresentation.

The operation 'SIMONETI' has made it possible to uncover an alleged fraud involving the alteration of the municipal census of Los Alcázares, made for profit by the now detained, who allegedly would have charged between 100 and 200 euros in exchange for facilitating, numerous foreign citizens, obtaining certificates of enumeration, using their situation of vulnerability and irregular stay in national territory.

It is estimated that the value of the swindle would exceed 12,000 euros.

The detainee and the investigations have been made available to the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia).
