The Community and the City Council of Los Alcázares will invest nearly half a million euros of the Regional and Local Authorities Action Plan (POS) of 2016 and 2017, managed by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations, to improve accessibility and Adequacy of the infrastructures of a dozen streets of the municipality.

The Director of Local Administration, Manuel Durán, visited today the streets where the works will be carried out together with the mayor of Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida, and announced that "the works corresponding to the POS investment of last year, Las Palmeras, Los Narejos avenue and several streets of unit number 5, will start in September.

The project aims to improve the accessibility conditions in the urban environment and order the public domain, as well as the pedestrian and living areas, with the creation of small garden areas and obtaining a greater number of public car parks, with reservation of places For people with disabilities, and the creation of the first charging points for electric vehicles in Los Alcázares.

Likewise, paving conditions will be improved in the streets of the river Aranguín, Navia river, Caudal river, river Deva and adjacent, as there are numerous tiles raised by the roots of the trees and by the passage of vehicles.

In the lane of Las Palmeras and in the avenue of Los Narejos will replace part of the existing water supply network to improve the service offered to the population.

The investment in these projects is 287,890 euros, of which 111,350 euros are provided by the Autonomous Community and the rest by the City.

Improvement of streets affected by the rainy season

The works planned for this year's POS consist of the improvement of accessibility and paving in the street of Los Catalanes, La Rambla and Manuel Acedo, which were affected by the rainy season last December, which are streets with A large influx of citizens because they host the weekly market of the locality.

The wall that delimits the streets of the Rambla and the Catalanes with the lower channel of the rambla will be demolished and replaced by a fencing of height 1,50 meters, on the one hand, to ensure the minimum safety conditions of use in the Protection against falls at a different level and, on the other, to allow the passage of rainwater that reaches these two streets towards the rambla, as the current wall was a barrier against water, posing a serious problem for the neighbors of the area Who watched as water flooded their homes because they had no outlet to the promenade.

As for the existing car parks in the street, places for people with disabilities will be created and charging points for electric vehicles will be placed.

Likewise, the work is used to replace part of the water supply network existing under the street of La Rambla and a section of Manuel Acedo Street.

These works are pending adjudication and will involve an investment of 197,061 euros, of which 129,536 correspond to the Autonomous Community.

The Works and Services Plan for 2017, destined to the 41 municipalities of the Region of less than 50,000 inhabitants, contemplates more than 7.8 million, of which 6 are borne by the Autonomous Community.

In total, 65 works will be subsidized, mainly paving, renovation of public lighting and works in public spaces, which have been selected by the municipalities.
