The Councillor for Sports, Nicolas Ruiz, General Director of Sports, Alonso Gómez and the president of the Sports Federation of Physically Handicapped Murcia, Ascension Hernandez, today presented the Championship of Spain Boccia to be held in the center for Sports Modernization of Los Narejos, on 28 and 29 May.
Boccia is a Paralympic sport, similar to petanque, people practicing wheelchair with cerebral palsy or severe physical disability, and are placed in one end of the field, from where they launch the balls.
The competition is structured by type of disability: the BC1 corresponds throwing athletes with hands or feet and require help of an assistant;
those of the BC2 are those that can launch without assistance;
the precise assistance BC3 and performs launches through a chute;
they all have cerebral palsy.
The Center for Sports Modernization of Los Narejos, will host the sixth edition of a championship has been held since 2010 as an option to provide an official competition for athletes younger Boccia, that age can not access the national championship all .
It is also an alternative to regional competitions already involved in most of these athletes.
In this championship will include 17 athletes aged between 12 and 19 years, belonging the autonomous regions of Madrid, Valencia, Catalonia, Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile and Leon.
In addition, part 20 technicians and assistants who accompany and assist athletes during competition and 15 referees CNAJBS (National Committee of Referees and Judges Boccia Slalom).
The competition format will be made only in individual categories BC1 (4 athletes), BC2 (5 athletes) and BC3 (8 athletes).
During the two days Saturday the preliminary stage (group stage) in all three categories will be played, and Sunday morning during the final phase will announce who will be the champions of Spain will be played.
