About 30 Class A catamarans meet at the Mar Menor (28/02/2019)

The Sports Technification Center "CTD Infanta Cristina" was the scene this morning of the launch of the 1st Qualifying Regatta for the European Championship of 2020 to be held at CN Puerto Sherry, for the Class A catamaran fleet, regatta that will be held this coming weekend, March 2 and 3 in Mar Menor waters.

A test that has as main objective, on the part of the class, to recover Class A 'Classics' since in recent times the 'Flyers' have become more relevant.

In the Mar Menor, except last minute changes, will be present about 30 ships arrived from Andalusia, with ample representation of Puerto Sherry highlighting one of its best assets such as Juan Luis Páez;

Valencian Community, with some of its best standard bearers: Kiko Espí, Rafa Gómez, Jacobo Espí and Abdón Ibáñez, World Champion GM 2017;

Galicia, with one of the best in this type of boats, such as Iago Iarra;

Catalonia, with another that between the pools such as Marc Verdaguer (L'Escala), without forgetting the premises of the Region of Murcia as Virgilio Bermejo, Mariano Martínez or Juan Antonio Ladrón to name a few of them.

Two Belgian units arrive at the international level: Philippe Muysers and Walter Gonzalez, while Ireland will be the only female on the table: Yvonne Sheehan.

With regard to today's presentation, which was attended by Nicolás Ruíz, Councilor for Sports of the City of Los Alcázares;

Francisco Javier Navarro, Director of the "CTD Infanta Cristina" and Arturo García, president of the FVRM, among other personalities, all have agreed on the importance of being able to host regattas of this level that manage to give an impetus to the image of the Mar Menor, offering a wide range of possibilities and the best race course.

They have also wanted to highlight, in the various interventions, the quality and services offered by the CTD Infanta Cristina, an incomparable setting for the practice of any sport, something that has also put in value the president of the federal entity, adding that "we have a facilities of 10 and a regatta field of 10 such as the Mar Menor, with this we have a new opportunity to show nationally and internationally the excellence we can give to all sailors who come to compete in our waters and visit our land " .
